Our Mission

The Saving Stick is an anti-suicide initiative that is led by high school students, for high school students. Through the power of pencils, The Saving Stick is a stick, or pencil, that saves! Each pencil contains the suicide hotline number (988), and a link to our website. Our team plans to utilize donations from schools, community centers, and individuals to aid our goal: spreading awareness about suicide in an effort to combat it to the greatest extent possible. Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, The Saving Stick works to reach Baton Rouge citizens and beyond by donating our pencils to establishments across the continental United States. Oftentimes, victims of suicide, or people who may know someone experiencing suicidal thoughts, are not properly equipped with the skills to identify and respond to these people. Thus, our non-profit organization works to teach students, and even adults, how to identify signs of suicide and self-harm, and how to go about dealing with them. By providing students across the nation with access to the suicide hotline in the very palms of their hands, The Saving Stick ultimately strives to address the horrors of suicide and build a foundation for adolescence struggling with suicidal thoughts.
